ChatGPT (Web)

To connect Flyweel MCP to ChatGPT on the web, your workspace admin must first turn on Developer Mode. Once enabled, add Flyweel as a custom MCP connector, paste https://api.flyweel.co/mcp-server/mcp, add a custom header X-API-Key: fwl_… with your Flyweel token, and Flyweel shows up in the tool menu in any chat.

Requirements

  • ChatGPT Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise, or Edu (free tier does not support custom MCP connectors)
  • Developer Mode enabled by a workspace admin (see Step 1)
  • A Flyweel account at app.flyweel.co with at least one ad account connected
  • A Flyweel API token (fwl_…)

Custom MCP connectors are gated behind Developer Mode. On Business/Enterprise/Edu workspaces only admins can enable it. On Plus/Pro the toggle sits in your own settings but still requires flipping on.

Step 1: Enable Developer Mode

Admins (Business / Enterprise / Edu):

  1. Open Workspace Settings
  2. Go to Permissions & Roles, then Connected Data
  3. Turn on Developer mode / Create custom MCP connectors

Plus / Pro users:

  1. Click your profile, then Settings
  2. Go to Connectors, then Advanced
  3. Toggle Developer mode on

See OpenAI’s guide: Developer Mode and full MCP connectors in ChatGPT (beta).

Step 2: Get a Flyweel API token

  1. Go to app.flyweel.co
  2. Click Settings, then API Tokens
  3. Click Create New Token, name it “ChatGPT”
  4. Click Generate and copy the fwl_… token

Step 3: Add the connector

  1. In ChatGPT: profile, then Settings, then Connectors
  2. Click Add connector, then Custom MCP server
  3. Fill in:
FieldValue
NameFlyweel
DescriptionAd performance data (Google, Meta, TikTok) plus Pipedrive CRM
URLhttps://api.flyweel.co/mcp-server/mcp
AuthenticationCustom Header
Header nameX-API-Key
Header valueyour fwl_… token
  1. Click Save

Step 4: Test it

  1. Open any chat
  2. Type @Flyweel to invoke the connector, or ask naturally:
What Google Ads accounts do I have connected to Flyweel?

Screenshots coming.

Troubleshooting

”Custom MCP server” option is missing

Developer Mode is not enabled.

Fix: Go back to Step 1. On Business/Enterprise/Edu you need a workspace admin to enable it.

Flyweel does not appear in the tool menu

The connector is saved but inactive.

Fix: In Settings, then Connectors, toggle Flyweel off and back on.

401 / “Authentication error”

Header name or token is wrong.

Fix: Verify the header name is exactly X-API-Key (case-sensitive) and the value starts with fwl_. Regenerate the token in Flyweel Settings if needed.

”No accounts found”

You have not connected any ad accounts in Flyweel yet.

Fix: Go to app.flyweel.co, then Settings, then Connections, and link Google Ads, Meta, or TikTok.
